For those interested in becoming a Kare Plus Live-in Carer, it’s important to us that every candidate gets a chance to meet the team that they will work with. The team will not only provide the training that enables candidates to work as live-in carers, but they will also act as a link between Poland and the UK.
As the Kare Plus Poland team grows, we will continue to introduce each new member because it is important to us that we are friendly, approachable and above all else, transparent.
Our first ‘Meet the team’ blog focuses on John Wilberforce, a passionate business development manager with heaps of experience the healthcare industry.
What is your role at Kare Plus Poland, and what do you do?
“I am the Development Manager for Emerging Markets and over the past few months all of my time has been taken up with developing and planning for the launch of our Live-in Care business.”
What’s your history in healthcare?
“I have more or less always worked in the Home Care sector. I have previously run my own care business, and I have worked for some of the leading franchise businesses in the industry. The care sector is what I know best, and it is something that I am a very passionate advocate of.”
Why should someone choose Live-in care?
“Independent research suggests that almost 96% of people want to spend their later life in their own home for as long as they possibly can. Live-in care supports that ideal and makes it possible for most people.
“It means that a person remains surrounded by their own belongings, in a place they are most familiar with, where they are able to exercise their own choices. In my opinion, there is no better way of upholding choice and dignity than through the provision of a care package in a person’s home.”
What can Kare Plus Poland offer candidates?
“Kare Plus is a very well-established business in the UK, and with a network of around 90 offices, we are sure to have opportunities to suit most people.
“We recruit and train people here in Poland and then arrange (and pay for) their travel to the UK to work with our network of franchisees. We pay very well, and provide excellent support to our team, both in Poland, and in the UK.”
Are you enjoying living in Poland, and what do you like to get up to?
“It is a great country, and I have been here many times in the last few years for both business and pleasure. I love exploring cities, and Warsaw has a fascinating history.
“I had a great walking holiday in the Tatras Mountains last year, and have also visited Gdansk, and Wroclaw. I spent last weekend going to a football match in Bialystok, and watching a concert in Warsaw (Midge Ure, if you are interested!)”
What do you like to do outside of work?
“Football is a passion of mine so I have already been to a few matches since moving here. I also love live music so I try to get to concerts as often as I can. During quieter evenings, I enjoy reading, and some creative writing from time to time.”
